How can I use my own wedding fonts with Cricut?

If you're a beginner to Cricut, you'll need to know that Cricut uses its own program called Design Space to cut your creations. Within Design Space, you can use Cricut's font library (some are free to use, and some are available through a paid Cricut Access subscription) or your computer's own fonts. You can also design a file using your preferred fonts in Photoshop or Canva, export your design as a .PNG, and then upload into Design Space. You have options on whatever makes you most confident!

For us though, we generally like having access to the font file itself. By having the actual font file on your computer to use, you have the ability to make your entire wedding design (or brand) cohesive in all of your details, including your printed stationery and other personalized details that you might not make with your Cricut. All about that personal wedding brand vibe!

So the short answer: You can use whatever font you want as long as it's already on your computer or is available in Cricut Design Space's font library. The possibilities are limitless for Cricut wedding ideas!

Cricut vinyl for wedding DIY projects

What are the best kinds of pretty wedding fonts to use with Cricut?

Remember that essentially a Cricut machine uses a little blade to cut things out, or if using a pen, it draws (or writes) things. So depending on the size of your project, some fonts may not cut or draw well, especially fonts with skinny line details or textures (like watercolor or ink-inspired fonts).

Small-sized projects usually do better with thicker, consistent line fonts whereas larger in size projects will be able to accommodate thinner fonts better (think those beautiful scripty wedding fonts!). Always test before doing your final wedding project. The fonts we have gathered up here are all good to go to use with your Cricut machine, and we'll let you know what kinds of projects are best for it!

Cricut pens for wedding DIY

I want to use the pen attachment. What are my limitations with the Cricut machine?

We love our Cricut pens, but there are some limitations that might be frustrating for certain wedding projects. Straight to the point: If using a thick or bold font, the pen only draws in outline form (or also known as bubble letters). It does not currently fill in your font. Because your machine "sees" in outline, fonts created as single line or writing fonts sourced within Design Space are best for writing projects as they have been configured to do this operation best.

There are some hacks to fill in your font, but it's time-consuming and not really effective when you're doing multiples or a lot of DIY wedding projects. So if you find yourself with a failed project, don't worry! You might just want to consider printing off your design via Canva with your home printer instead. Because of this mileage-may-vary perspective, we recommend using most all of the Cricut wedding fonts below with vinyl, iron-on, and non-pen materials unless otherwise noted.
