Handmade Travel-Inspired Wedding

With several years in the Navy, travel and adventure are at the heart of Ariel and Rachel's love for each other. From Dubai to Hawaii to Singapore to Lake Tahoe, they have made their way around the world, but home is what they have found whenever they are together. These two lovebirds met at a poker tournament and fell in love over the course of many years, many overseas trips, and many long conversations about who they wanted to be with... and it just so happened to be each other.

At the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, Rachel and Ariel's wedding at The Water Table perfectly reflected the travel theme that has been central to their lives. Maria Grace Photography captured every moment from romantic portraits on the beach to the handmade royal blue and blush details throughout the wedding. Each reception centerpiece featured a DIY hand-painted globe with that we're obsessed alongside a location one or both of them has lived or visited. One of our favorite details is their wedding guest book in the form of a canvas map that allowed guests to sign that they would later hang up in their home as wall decor. For Ariel and Rachel, home is where the heart is, no matter where the military takes them next.

Colorful Summer Beachside Wedding

Residing in the Windy City in the heart of America, Aubrey and Dan decided that when it came to choosing a destination for their wedding, the warm and beachy Outer Banks was the perfect spot for their celebration away from home. With family traveling from all over the country, the two aimed to create a fun and memorable wedding that doubled as an oceanside vacation for their guests.

Captured by Natalie Heim Photography, their wedding day was as romantic as it was colorful with lush pink and coral bouquets and perfect peach shades of bridesmaid dresses. Pops of tangerine and greenery added bright pops to the energetic vibe on the coastal sands of North Carolina. Ending with paper lanterns overhead as they danced the night away, Aubrey and Dan's celebration was only made more perfect by the ones who stood by their sides.

Classic Mint and Blush Wedding

Timeless and elegant, Bailee and Lucas' mint pastel and soft pink wedding is the perfect inspiration for any springtime celebration. From the white and pink bouquets full of peonies to a wedding day rainbow sweeping the sky to the mint ruffled cake to end all ruffled cakes, everything shimmered with beautiful moments, even with a little post-ceremony rain shower!

For Bailee and Lucas, the most important thing was to remember the romance of the day and to have an absolutely rockin' reception for their guests at the Inn at Warner Hall in Gloucester. Captured by Lindsay Collette and coordinated by As You Wish Events, each detail came together so that the wedding party and guests alike could relax and have fun at one of the most exciting receptions they have ever attended! The double rainbow at the end of the day simply confirmed what Bailee and Lucas already knew: this day was the promise of many wonderful years together.

Rustic Waterside Wedding on the Eastern Shore

Kristin and Damian have been together for over a decade, so when it was time to tie the knot they knew just what they wanted for their wedding day: a memorable day with their closest loved ones on the Eastern Shore. The beautifully rustic chic, Mimosa Farm, provided the perfect backdrop for a laid back, relaxed, and beautiful celebration captured by Lundy Photography.

Lush greenery was the centerpiece of their wedding day, surrounding everything from the pecan-dappled naked cake to the beautiful birch ceremony arbor that stood near the water. The shades of green complemented lilac bridesmaid dresses and tan groomsmen suits while Kristin’s floral crown and long reception farm tables gave the whimsical vibe for the event. From a dingy boat filled with craft beer to Chesapeake Bay oysters shucked nearby, we loved the unique touches the bride and groom chose to make it a casual chic wedding that is one to remember for their next journey ahead!

Classic Black and Gold Southern Wedding

With blush and neutral tones still trending in the wedding world, Taylor and Max's classic black, gold, and white color palette definitely stands out as a chic Southern celebration underneath the stars! Kim Moody Design worked with the couple to create an elegant wedding at Westover Plantation in Charles City filled with fun details like their personalized "Fun Facts" cocktail napkins and timeless traditions like burying the bourbon!

It's hard to narrow down the things we loved most at Taylor and Max’s wedding, but the clear-topped tent adorned with twinkling bistro lights and chandelier, letterpress invitations, and their unique black and white dance floor are certainly at the top of the list! Captured by Kristine Pringle Photographers, gilded centerpieces filled with white hydrangeas were perfectly paired with gold chiavari chairs and chargers. Add in an amazing dessert bar with an all-white cake, cupcakes, and 5-layer cookies, and our only disappointment is that we could not attend to partake in the deliciousness!

Handmade Eclectic Backyard Wedding

With a story familiar to many of us in our local military community, James and Grace were first married several years ago in a small ceremony with their closest family and friends. Because James was serving our country, they did not have time to plan their dream wedding. So years passed, and James and Grace went through multiple deployments between New York to Florida. When they eventually came back to Virginia, this Mr. and Mrs. knew they would finally be here for at least a few years, so they knew it was time to throw the wedding they never had!

Captured by Karyn Johnson Photography, Grace had a vision for a celebration filled with lots of color like mustard yellow, cobalt blue, and burgundy red, plenty of cheerful flowers of sunflowers, ranunculus, and roses, and lovingly handmade details like a love ladder, a thank you banner, and a station of past family wedding photos to bring it all together at Country Villa Inn in Virginia Beach. With several years of marriage behind them, James and Grace had more to celebrate than ever before as their wedding dreams finally became a reality: a lively event with all of their loved ones.

Industrial Winter Glam Vineyard Wedding

For Lindsey and Brooke, January in the Outer Banks meant a glimmery evening wedding at Sanctuary Vineyards, complete with glowing lights, sweeping drapery hung from the ceiling against an industrial backdrop, giant balloons with tassels, and wooden wine barrels. Lindsey wanted her bridesmaids to be happy and comfortable, so they each choose their dresses in the hues of soft blushes, gold, and taupe while Brooke and his groomsmen donned coordinating suits of sleek gray and black.

Captured by Neil GT Photography, eclectic vintage furniture created a fun lounge area at the nighttime reception and simple round white tables with black and white striped runners set the monochromatic tone perfectly! We are also in love with Lindsey and Brooke's "Date Night Idea Jar" that served as their guestbook! From sunset portraits at Jockey's Ridge State Park to gold bottle reception centerpieces with sprigs of carnations and baby's breath to a dance party to win all dance parties, this is one beautiful Outer Banks celebration that will continue to inspire any couple looking for a different kind of coastal wedding!

Sunny Virginia Beach Inspired Wedding

With the wacky weather we've been having, you would think it's summertime already! While it's a rollercoaster of temperatures wreaking havoc on our sinuses, today, we are firmly planting ourselves in a sun-drenched celebration thanks to Lindsey and Steve! You see, their special day was distinctly inspired to be as fun just like the warm, sunny beach days they love to share together. From the groom's love of sunglasses-turned-wedding-favors to reception tables named after well-loved streets at the Oceanfront to the beachy spin of watering a mini palm tree ceremony to symbolize growing roots together, these two lovegulls' Virginia Beach wedding day is sure to make every local heart swoon!

Captured by Katie Nesbitt Photography, coordinated by Antonia Christianson Events, and designed by Isha Foss Design, everything was perfectly cheerful with bright pops of coral, hearty succulents, bridesmaids in dark navy blue dresses, and of course, their pup's Liberty's debut as flower girl with an adorable floral collar. Even their custom cake topper provided the perfect nod to their laid back, sand-and-surf-loving style!

Cozy Rustic Romance on the Farm

With a love for all things rustic, Chelsea and Billy wanted to keep their engagement session simple and sweet with Ross Costanza Photography at Cross Creek Farm in Chesapeake. From the adorable tree swing, to haystacks, to the rusty tractor and cozy old pick-up truck, these two lovebirds were perfectly in tune with country chic, especially when wearing mustard yellow with pops of denim blue. Romance at the farm was made even more perfect when Chelsea and Billy even had a special photobomb donning chestnut brown!
