Classic Navy Blue and Magenta East Beach Wedding

Anne and Macon's navy blue-hued wedding at the East Beach Bay Front Club is a perfect example of classic style set against a waterfront backdrop. The little details such as a timeless Burberry perfume and chic modern navy blue invitations all blend together for a beautiful day in Norfolk captured by Heidi Calma Photography.

These two lovebirds have a fairy tale ending to a modern day love story! They met on a popular online dating website, and after they chatted for the first time, they knew they were meant to be. (If Anne and Macon look familiar to you, we even featured their engagement story last year!)

With vibrant magenta bridesmaid dresses and fun groom fashion in the patterns of stripes and check, Anne and Macon's love story continued in style surrounded by their closest loved ones at one of Hampton Roads' beloved beach wedding spots.

Rustic Vintage Plantation Wedding Inspiration

Fact: We have a soft spot in our hearts for plantation wedding venues here in Virginia. From history to tradition to classic beauty, they are a vintage-loving couple's dream! From the lovely styling from Chancey Charm Richmond and the photographic eye of Imani Fine Art Photography, this creative team focused on blending tradition and a jewel-toned color palette with contrasting cool colors such as soft green and blue set against the backdrop of Hatcher's Plantation right outside of Richmond!

The naked cake dappled in fresh fruit from Pudgy Cakes and Treats, beautiful bridal radiance by Transformation Artistry, a dapper red velvet necktie for the groom, and the low v-lace back of the bridal gown from Tiffany's Bridal pairs perfectly with the idyllic scenery of calm ponds and early 19th Century Gothic Revival style buildings. With the unique furniture and decor finds from Nathaniel's Unique Events to the crimson and sage blooms by The Flower Guy Bron, this romantic rustic wedding inspiration will make any Virginia bride's heart flutter! (And it certainly doesn't hurt to have a furry little uninvited guest pop up either -- be still our cat lady hearts!)

Historic Yorktown Engagement Session

You never know when you are going to meet the love of your life! Some people meet at college, some people meet at church, and some people meet playing fun community sports! And Amanda and Patrick, Hampton Roads locals, actually met playing a game of wiffle ball. These two bonded over sports and history, and so it was only appropriate that they chose Historic Yorktown for their engagement session with Diana Gordon Photography.

What could be better?! Brick walls, cannons, the tobacco trail, and even the gorgeously textured backdrop of Cornwallis' Cave -- the very location where British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered to General George Washington and finally brought an end to the American Revolution!

Quirky Elegant Portsmouth Wedding with Dinosaurs

When Haley and Luke decided they wanted a non-traditional wedding, they chose to fully embrace the fact that this was their big day – and they made it fit perfectly with their personalities! Donuts won out over cake as the dessert of choice, a backyard provided the meaningful venue they had been searching for, and they even selected a pair of dinosaurs for a very fab and fun cake topper!

With photography by Tiltawhirl Imagery and details made to match the couple and coordinated by Cherry Blossom Planning Factory, this Portsmouth wedding gives us the feel of being home with the people we love most. For Haley and Luke, that was the most important thing of all.

Elegant Lewis Ginter Garden Wedding

The saying is that whatever you do on New Years, you will be doing for the rest of the year. This certainly applied to Aleasa and Kevin, who met on New Years Day, a moment that would change both of their lives forever. When Kevin proposed just before Christmas, these two knew the holidays would always hold a special place in their hearts.

Aleasa and Kevin tied the knot at the beautiful Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on a perfect day that highlighted the contrast of navy-hued bridesmaid dresses and tangerine florals. Andrew and Tianna captured both the beauty of these Richmond gardens and the palpable love between the couple. This was yet another chapter in their lives that would never be forgotten!

These two lovebirds planned their day after the memory of barbeques, bonfires, and the sunny weather of the region. We love their East Coast Preppy meets Southern Charm theme!

Some of our favorite details in this wedding, captured by Melissa Arlena Photography and planned by River Weddings and Events, include adorable oyster shell place cards, a classic white cake with golden Chesapeake Bay crabs in sugar form, a special board featuring wedding photos of the couple's parents, and even the adorable chic Virginia-lovin' koozies. DIY Outer Banks Beach Wedding

The beach of Corova, North Carolina, is the ideal setting that makes us want to escape to the summery weather we enjoy each year... and that's where this handmade wedding was! Through Elizabeth Henson Photos' captures, it tells the story of a wedding adventure that requires a 4-wheel drive for location access, culminating in a gorgeous beach house that provides the backdrop for a wedding day filled with joy and family moments.

Nick and Jessica said "I do" through their personal and unique details such as the perfectly mismatched DIY brooch bouquets complemented by the soft, neutral bridesmaid dresses on a bright sunny day in the Outer Banks. Sand and shells were incorporated throughout the wedding d├ęcor, and Jessica wore her mother's wedding dress and veil on a day she would remember for the rest of her life.

Classic and Elegant Southern Wedding

With shimmery bridesmaid gowns and cascading florals, this Old Hollywood style meets rustic Southern glamour wedding has a lot of familiarity... because last year, we featured this amazing couple's engagement party and engagement session! Seeing the whole wedding story from start to end is definitely one of our most favorite things around here! From the party to engagement to now wedding day, it only further cemented the legacy importance that Julia and Gray would also have their big day at the Hornsby House Inn in Yorktown.

Captured by Luke and Ashley Photography, the men looked dapper in their classic black tuxedos as Julia radiated bridal elegance in a custom-designed wedding dress. And as the day progressed, the couple said their vows in front of a golden nature-inspired ceremony arch and then was whisked away into a reception tent painted in light and cozy Southern touches all throughout. It was without a doubt a grand evening for the newlyweds and their closest friends and family!

Handmade Valentine Wedding Inspiration

Set at the newly renovated Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort in Newport News, this handmade Valentine's Day wedding inspiration is a sweet and totally doable theme meant for the winter season. With a cozy fireplace inside for the sweetheart table, The DIY Bridal Network was inspired by the classic love-inspired colors of red, blush, and white.

Photographed by Maria Grace Photography, the bride was made even more beautiful by the talents of Dhalia Edwards while the sparkly red linens from Waterford Event Rentals, low-sitting textured floral arrangement from Jeff's Flowers Of Course, and ghost chiavari chairs from Distinctive Event Rentals set the romantic scene. From the do-it-yourself menu card to the crafty "love" cake topper, this is perfect for couples looking for some Valentine's ideas... it even translates well to a date night dinner at home!

Charles City Engagement along the James River

Romantic boating, the cutest little skipper in a red sweater, and the docks at sunset, Anna and Bradford went back to the place where it all began for their engagement session with Nicki Metcalf Photography: Charles City. And we super love when we get the proposal story straight from the bride-to-be herself, especially when it's so perfectly told, so we'll let Anna take it from here!

Bradford's proposal began with his making a beautiful summer breakfast in his backyard, followed by a morning of mountain biking along the banks of the James River. Mountain biking has become one of our favorite pastimes, so it didn't take much convincing to tag along. As we sprinted through the city streets and made our way to the trail head, we pushed through the technical climbs of Northbank and Buttermilk and made our way to Belle Isle -- a breathtakingly beautiful system that weaves in and out of the canopies along the James River.

Admittedly, I was becoming fussy from overheating in the summer's sun when Bradford just so happened to pull us over at my very favorite overlook. With a tiny smile, I said, "Did you know this is my favorite spot?" But of course he did. As I dismounted and began to pace in efforts to cool down, Bradford suddenly bent down on his knee and inquired, at last, "Anna Varnon Oberlander, will you marry me?"

Truly believing this was in jest, I rebutted "You're joking!! Right?" Of course, upon his second inquiry, I realized that this indeed, was no joke, not a dream, but real life, and I exultantly agreed. We then spent the following hour wandering the trails together hand in hand in the purest joy, capped by a surprise sunset dinner along the river with dearest friends and family.

Romantic Outer Banks Destination Beach Wedding

With a relationship that started during a season of travel for Kathryn and Greg, culminating in a proposal on the coast of Laguna Beach, California, these two planned a destination wedding for the East Coast that fit their adventurous story. Bringing friends and family from all over the country to the beautiful Outer Banks was the perfect way to celebrate these two wanderlust hearts becoming one.

Between Mary Basnight Photography's captures and a soft color palette of greys, creams, and fair shades of coral, Kathryn and Greg's day highlighted the natural environment and sandy shores of the Sanderling Resort and Spa. With her appreciation for handmade details and an eye for beautiful design, Kathryn made many of the wedding decorations herself. They even incorporated their signature drink, a "Paris and Moscow," to bring the traveling theme full circle!
