High school sweethearts, Mary and Thax have grown up side by side, building a life filled with shared memories, many of which unfolded right on this very river. The bride shared with us, "We are so fortunate that our friends and family have had so many wonderful summer days together on this water, and we wanted the day to feel like just that! Relaxed, fun for all, and full of dancing!"
And that’s exactly what they created: the ultimate riverfront wedding weekend.
Why We Love This Wedding: From playful pet details (hello, Finian and Penny!) to soft blue and pistachio color styling, every element feels intentional yet fun. Add in standout Cricut wedding signage, trending florals, and fireworks over the river, and it’s the perfect mix of personality and polish.

Riverfront Backyard Wedding with a Relaxed Summer Vibe
The celebrations began with a vibrant backyard poolside welcome party at the groom’s family home, complete with steel drum musicians and woodfired pizza, setting a fun, laid-back tone for the weekend ahead.By the wedding day, guests were fully immersed in Mary and Thax’s celebration, where every detail felt intentional yet unfussy. Even their beloved pets, Finian the cat and Penny the dog, made charming appearances. Both were reimagined as signature cocktails and oversized cardboard cutouts that doubled as hilarious, crowd-favorite photo ops, and Penny made walking down the aisle adorably chic with her own embroidered frilled collar. As avid fans of including pets in the wedding, we're obsessed!

Soft Blue and Pistachio Green Wedding Palette with Striped Accents
The design palette leaned into soft light blue and pistachio green layered with warm neutrals, creating an airy, elevated garden party aesthetic. Subtle striped accents added a modern twist, appearing in thoughtful touches like stationery, matchbook favors, and decor details — including a beautiful small white boat perched on stilts serving as a cold drinks station, topped with a blue-and-white striped umbrella. We adore the overall fresh, playful, and effortlessly chic effect.

Trending Wedding Florals with Vintage Style
Florals helped share the visual story of the day, embracing some of the most current, popular blooms we're seeing today in real weddings. Mary's bouquet featured cascading amaranthus alongside sculptural calla lilies and glossy anthuriums, bringing movement, texture, and a surprise modern edge to the timeless garden setting.Paired with vintage-inspired vessels — including hobnail milk glass containers from their family's personal collections — the florals wove together the classic and contemporary.

Meaningful Heirlooms and Personal Touches
For Mary, incorporating family history into the day was essential. She shared, "I carried a family bible that each bride in my mother's family has carried down the aisle for multiple generations."Her accessories carried just as much meaning as she wore her paternal grandmother's earrings and a sentimental handkerchief gifted by her sister, originally belonging to their grandmother. Even the ceremony held space for remembrance, with a poem written by her late grandfather read in honor of loved ones.

DIY Wedding Details with Connection
Made by the groom's parents' catering company Cater 2 Events, the floral box A-frame wedding welcome sign gave beautiful garden vibes from the moment guests entered the ceremony space. At the bar, Mary used a vintage white table runner and transformed into a custom fabric menu using a Cricut, blending seamlessly into the soft pale green color palette while adding a tactile, one-of-a-kind detail. Yes to more repurposed linens like this!We also loved the venue watercolor painting created by their bridesmaid, Amy, as it cohesively pops up on the guest book, seating chart, and invitation suite. These thoughtful DIY elements elevated the day into a personalized celebration for Thax and Mary!

A Vintage-Inspired Dessert Table
The cake design was a nod to the vintage aesthetic featured all throughout the day. Displayed on lace-trimmed patterned vintage linen, a single-tier white cake had intricate Lambeth piping, paired with other classic bite-sized treats for everyone to enjoy. With the silver stands and an idyllic riverview, it felt straight out of another era!

Dancing in the Rain and Fireworks Over the River
The day unfolded under sunny skies until late afternoon, when a passing storm added an unexpected twist. But instead of slowing things down, it became one of the most memorable moments. When lightning forced the band to pause, guests literally didn't miss a beat. Phones were plugged into speakers, and the dance floor spilled out into the rain! And as perfect cinematic love stories are wont to do, the skies cleared long enough for a spectacular finale: fireworks lighting up the river. It was a perfect ending to a weekend to celebrate joy and a love that's grown up beautifully over time.
