This Bride and Groom had Handwritten Notes as Part of Their Seating Chart

Some weddings immediately draw you in. Not because they’re overdone, but because every detail feels like it just belongs. Zahra and Clayton's romantic wedding at Wadsworth Mansion in Connecticut was one of those days!

Thoughtfully planned by Irene + Co Events and photographed by Apollo Fields, their classic celebration blended a timeless white and green palette with bold monochromatic accents and modern design details. The result? A laughter-filled wedding that felt elevated and reflective of their love story and values!

A Floral-Filled Ceremony with a Modern Edge

For being in a wide open outdoor space, the ceremony felt lush and immersive with abundant white and green floral towers and draping greenery framing the moment Clayton and Zahra said their I Dos. While the altar and aisle blooms by The Floating Dahlia brought softness and romance, sleek black ceremony chairs added a subtle architectural edge that anchored the aesthetic into a contemporary-meets-classic vibe. It was the kind of setting that felt grand without losing its intimacy, and we're smitten!

Thoughtful Guest Experiences & Personal Touches

As guests moved into cocktail hour, the experience became one of discovery. Every detail felt considered. Cocktail napkins featured fun facts about the happy couple, His and Her signature cocktails donned the bar, and even a custom cigar station with a professional cigar roller shared a luxury experience for those interested in partaking.

One of our favorite memorable elements was the couple’s “Our Favorite People” escort card wall by Powerstation Events with a striking display of black envelopes with white lettering. Inside each envelope, guests found a handwritten note from the bride and groom, sharing a personal memory and thanks for attending. In a world of digital, we're loudly cheering for more of this kind of thoughtfulness, please!

Custom details continued throughout, including a fabric wedding welcome sign adorned with floor-length black satin ribbons and a coordinating fabric bar menu. We love modern tactile pieces that soften a structured event space!

A Romantic Reception with Elevated Details

Inside the mansion, a long head table grounded one of the reception spaces (with other guest tables in connected rooms), dressed in cascading florals that draped to the floor. Minimalist place settings ensured the people who sat at each remained the focus.

In one of the most meaningful moments of the day that we loved to see, Zahra and Clayton slipped away for a private dinner on the balcony overlooking the gardens. It was a unique pause to soak it all in before rejoining their guests, and a great reminder that rewriting wedding traditions to fit your story is the best part of wedding planning.

A Handmade Wedding Cake with Sugar Orchid Details

Adding an especially personal touch, Zahra created their wedding cake, too! Its elegant all-white tiered design was adorned with handcrafted sugar orchids and delicate floral details. It was a true labor of love, blending artistry with personal meaning and perfectly complementing the wedding's refined white and green palette. Can we also talk about how a practical draping of tulle protected the cake, but also gave it its own bridal moment? We're here for it!

A Wedding Rooted in Connection

Though chic and stylish, Clayton and Zahra's wedding wasn’t about following trends. It was about creating a day that felt entirely their own. From the balance of soft florals and modern structure to the personal details woven throughout, every choice reflected a desire to create something meaningful and memorable. And we think that's absolutely the best way to have a wedding.
