When COVID-19 Changed Their Wedding, They Brought the Sunshine

After months of wedding planning uncertainty due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Nikki and Andy's Outer Banks wedding was exactly the kind of joy our world needs right now. Even though they had to downsize their wedding guest list as well as their wedding party to family only, these two lovebirds would not let their happiness be canceled, so they made it their mission to have a memorable intimate classic celebration at the Currituck Club in Corolla, North Carolina, a location that was personally special to Nikki because of childhood vacations.

Safety was very important to them to ensure their family felt comfortable to celebrate, and so they exchanged their vows along the breezy waterfront and danced their first dance under a spacious pagoda with plenty of open air for everyone to socially distance and enjoy the day. Their wedding favors also gave a nod to the whole coronavirus situation! Andy can find humor in anything so when he kept hearing "Essential Guests" in relation to event restrictions, he said, "We should put 'Essential Guest' on our custom koozies! Everyone keeps hearing about certain people being essential, but everyone on our wedding day is an essential guest! They are family!" As shared by the bride and groom, everyone definitely appreciated the light-hearted COVID wedding goodies to take home as a wild, but oh so true memento of this crazy year.

With a color palette of pastel pink, gray, and white, Andy's niece designed their dream wedding florals filled with peonies and roses while Nikki's sister/matron of honor sparkled in a shimmery dusty rose sequin dress. Their beautiful greenery-inspired printable stationery coordinated perfectly and made it easy for them to customize any potentially last minute details because #2020.

Captured by Amanda Wose Photography, Nikki and Andy's first look moment was the most memorable of the day for them. They were two best friends becoming newlyweds, and that's the simplest and most important part of a wedding day! Because of these small, yet impactful moments, Andy and Nikki shared some great advice for other COVID-affected couples planning their weddings: "Do not let planning get you down, and enjoy the planning process. Things will fall into place the way they are supposed to. Everyone will try to throw their opinions out there, but you have to do what you want and what you have envisioned. It can be stressful, but it is your special day. The wedding day goes by quickly, so soak in every moment you can!
