Modern Rooftop Wedding with Traditional Korean Paebaek Ceremony

Monday, May 4, 2020 Richmond, Virginia

Nothing gives more personalization into a wedding than special cultural traditions which were exemplified perfectly in Erica and Matt's rooftop celebration at The Hofheimer Building in downtown Richmond. Combined with a modern vibe, the two also honored family heritage with a classic Korean Paebaek ceremony afterwards. In this tradition, the bride and groom offer Korean liquor to both sets of parents and receive marriage advice in exchange. Each parent then tossed handfuls of chestnuts and dates for Erica and Matt to catch to predict how many future children they will have. Well, if these predictions hold true, Matt and Erica will have a pretty full house with eight sets of twins one day!

Awesomesauce Photography captured the bright smiles and fun moments with fab portraits in front of colorful wall murals (a classic Richmond feature!) and unique locally-made ice cream sandwiches in lieu of wedding cake. We loved their purple, sage green, and gray color palette that went well with their casual chic wedding vision in an industrial setting. Between the fresh lavender florals, good food, and relaxed spirits, Erica and Matt's special day was the perfect blend of sweet contemporary romance and fun!
