East and West in the Heart of Richmond

For Lina and Al, their wedding was a blend of East meets West. The couple had plans to celebrate in China later that year, but wanted to embrace their new home with a wedding in the heart of Richmond, Virginia. While Lina originally hails from overseas, their story began with their first face-to-face meeting at JFK Airport in New York City and culminated in a proposal atop the Empire State Building with a crowd of people cheering them on.

Maymont with its beautiful flowers and The Jefferson Hotel with its stunning architectural details created the backdrop for an intimate and elegant celebration. Lina honored her heritage by ending the day in a traditional Chinese red dress called a qipao but not before wearing a Western-style white wedding gown for the ceremony. Xiaoqi Li Photography was behind the lens capturing Al and Lina's joy as their new life together began.

The best way we can think of to sum up this day is with a Chinese greeting for the couple: zhù nǐ men xīn hūn yú kuài (may you have a happy marriage)!
