Elegant Richmond Wedding with Persian Traditions

It's no secret that we love wedding traditions, especially ones that go beyond white dresses and bouquet tosses, and today's stunner from David Abel Photography shares a beautiful cultural element to our little corner of Virginia. Filled with Christian and Persian wedding traditions from the groom's native country of Iran, Behzad and Molly had the most elegant day set against the backdrop of The Mill at Fine Creek in Richmond.

The culmination of Persian weddings is during the aghd, or the ceremony, where vows are exchanged and symbolic elements presented. The wedding table is adorned with everything from flatbread (nooné sangak) to spices to a book of significance to the couple. The most important details are the mirror and candlesticks; these were placed in front of the couple to represent eternity and a bright future together. And one of the most beautiful moments was when Molly and Behzad were covered with a decorative canopy and sprinkled with sugar to symbolize sweetness.

In a classic morning suit for the ceremony and a sleek modern tuxedo for the reception, Behzad was dashing for his lovely bride in an exquisitely beaded gown with a double keyhole back. Hello, couple style perfection! By honoring the past and present, Molly and Behzad paid homage to their family, their love, and a lifetime of blended traditions from all over the world.
