Casual Chic Coastal Honeymoon Style Inspiration

Coastal aesthetic, warm summer sunshine, and nothing but vacay vibes. That's what inspired us in this honeymoon inspiration shoot in Cape Charles, Virginia at The Oyster Farm at Kings Creek! Dreamed up for our Tidewater and Tulle Travels section (stay tuned to August for that special feature!), we wanted to showcase casual chic style, beautiful and practical honeymoon accessories, and the idyllic scenery of Coastal Virginia through the lens of Sarah Street Photography.

With an adorably chic white romper and flowy halter dress from BHLDN, sunkissed makeup by Faces by Rebecca Wood, and leather luggage tags with calligraphy by Eliza Gwendalyn, and unique travel goodies from Etsy artisans, our newlywed bride model embodies all things beachy and relaxed as we envision a bike ride in the morning, boating in the afternoon, and then a romantic walk on the beach in the evening... perfect inspiration for anyone going on a coastal honeymoon!

Sweet Spring Engagement Session with a Pup Named Neville

Years ago, Domingo and Nicole were both happy party goers. He went trying to avoid another person at the party but wanted to still enjoy himself, so Nicole offered to be his "pretend" girlfriend to make it a little easier. The rest is history, and they've been together ever since through their shared love of food, Hampton Roads, and their sweet bulldog pup, Neville (named after the one and only from Harry Potter, of course!).

Domingo and Nicole wanted their engagement session with Chelsea Anderson Photography to be among the pretty spring trees and knew they would find it on the campus of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. Between Domingo's fun personality, Nicole's beautiful smile, and Neville's snorting, it was a beautiful day in the sunshine and lovey-dovey moments!

Rustic Barn Bridal Session for a Country Bride

Tucked away in a small town called Yale about an hour west of Suffolk, Clay Hill Garden Events is the quintessential barn wedding venue for a lot of Hampton Roads couples, so it's no wonder that this rustic (or one of our favorite word nerd synonyms, bucolic... because it's just downright gorgeous!) gem would be the backdrop for the most perfect bridal portraits for any country-lovin' bride!

With a gorgeous ruffle-tiered Casablanca Bridal gown, loose, romantic curls by Taylor Marion Artistry, and cowgirl boots to set the tone of country elegance, Haley herself made the rustic wonderland complete in her bridal session with Timeless Memories By Kristen. White picket fences, historical buildings moved on site, deer antlers in the decorating, and so much more, there's just so much to love here!

Amazing Moments with Dove

Sometimes the moments that make us sweat are the most amazing moments of all... especially on a wedding day! The first look. The first kiss. The first button fastened on the gown. The first step down the aisle. But for me, it was the first moment I looked at myself in the mirror. Every bit of emotion washed over me then. It was the first time that I really felt elegant, and it was at my dream Christmas wedding...

Chic Bridal Shower Ideas with DIY Flower Crowns

Cheers to fun, colorful, and chic bridal showers! Captured by GingerSnaps Photography and styled by Heart of Harlow, this bridal shower inspiration at 108 Budleigh has it all from a hair and makeup trial with the girls, a DIY flower crown station, tapas bar, and of course, pink champagne with the cutest hand-lettered name flags!

We love the idea of shower attendees getting pampered by a beauty team like Glimmer Hair and Makeup before the big day especially if everyone lives in different cities and aren't able to get together very often! With gorgeous outfits from Honey & Hive Boutique, delicious treats from Ortega'z, and blooms and floral supplies from Flower Girls OBX, this bridal shower couldn't help but be a lovely source of inspiration for brides looking for unique ideas to celebrate with their closest loved ones!

Windy Engagement Session at Yorktown Beach

Bailee and Lucas are two engineers who just moved into their first home together on the water of a small coastal community in southeastern Virginia. Both incredibly busy with their careers, home renovations, and wedding planning, they knew they wanted something quietly special for their Yorktown Beach engagement session with Lindsay Collette.

With a combination of the oceanside wind and a whole lot of love made for an intimate, relaxed session, these two can look back on some beautifully romantic moments even in their busiest life seasons!

Traditional Filipino Catholic Wedding with Garden Details

With such a military based community as we have, traditions from around the world often filter into the wedding world here in Hampton Roads. Brad and Jessica had much to celebrate at their wedding the day after they celebrated 13 years of dating through high school, college, military deployments, and all the transitions life can bring. With a heritage in Southeast Asia, Jessica chose to celebrate with a Catholic-Filipino ceremony, incorporating traditions such as the veil and cord ceremony with the couple's sponsors who will walk alongside them as they begin their marriage.

After the traditional vows at St. Paul's Cathedral in Portsmouth the reception kicked off in style at the Woman's Club of Portsmouth. MorLina Events crafted each element from the ivory, mint, and blush color palette to the adorable sequined sweetheart table. With every detail captured beautifully by Maria Grace Photography, we can’t help but swoon over these two lovebirds' special day!

Pack Up These Fab Picnic Wedding Ideas

Let's go on a picnic! And you have great reason to with June 18th being International Picnic Day! Whether you're loving the vintage picnic idea for your engagement session, a Yogi Bear-esque obsession with picnic baskets, or looking to up your picnicking game for a date night, these picnic-inspired ideas from around the web are definitely ready for you to bookmark and pin!

Gilded Casual Chic Outer Banks Wedding

The idyllic coastal views of the Outer Banks lend themselves to the seashore elements of Giavonna and Constantine's sweet beach house wedding. This lovely couple chose Corolla, North Carolina as the location for their oceanfront affair, complementing the location with starfish elements, gilded menu cards, and golden mercury glass speckled throughout the intimate reception. Giavonna even chose to forego a traditional wedding updo in favor of beachy, sunkissed waves accented by gorgeously glam chandelier earrings!

Captured by Sarah D'Ambra Photography, personal details such as their special memorial tribute to those who were there in spirit to the family-style seating to even her furry best friend in attendance brought the whole family together for a special casual, yet chic celebration to remember.

Classic Southern Charm Williamsburg Wedding

Filled with magnolia leaves, white ranunculus blooms, and Southern charm through and through, Taylor and Ed decided to get married at the William and Mary Alumni House. Since they live in Charleston, South Carolina and their family being from Hampton Roads, the theme of the day hearkened back to their home state with a classic style that suited the timelessness of historic Williamsburg.

We love it when weddings have beautiful food displays, and this one was no exception! The charming charcuterie boards paired perfectly with the light taste of limoncello for a quintessential spring afternoon. From the flowing navy blue bridesmaid dresses to the luxurious tent ceiling drapery to the last moments as Taylor and Ed exited amidst a sea of sparklers, Luke and Ashley Photography beautifully captured all their amazing memories!

Bright and Cheery Getting Ready Inspiration

With pops of pink, green, and a whole lot of fun, we're so excited to share this different kind of stylized wedding shoot: getting ready with the ladies! With bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, and wedding days, we think that the preparations should get some photo-pretty love, too, even if it's a simple color theme that you love and might not have gotten to use anywhere else in your wedding planning journey!

Designed by Antonia Christianson Events and captured by Meredith Ryncarz Photography, these bridesmaids and bride made the iconic Dove and Daisy Spa even more gorgeous with their laughter and loveliness-- just what a wedding day should be! Sprinkled cake truffles by Whipped Up By Mimi and yummy key lime sodas brightened up their mid-day bridal picnic table while inside fluffy pink blooms from Roost Flowers filled milk glass vases around the Spa.

What we love most about this shoot is that it's totally doable for any bride, especially when she's getting ready in a space that's been created with the wedding day in mind. Pull in your favorite colors and repeat throughout your area in flowers, signage, and other simple details. And above all, start the day the right by surrounding yourself by good vibes! You're getting married!

Simply Sweet Virginia Beach Elopement

At the end of the day, we celebrate weddings because they are all about the marriage that begins when the last toast is given and the couple makes their exit to start a new life. Elopements are near and dear to us because they focus only on the couple and the heart behind the reason for the wedding day.

Mike and Mona went the non-traditional route by deciding to elope right on the beach in a private ceremony with just the two of them, their minister, and Fresh Look Photography present. The intimacy of the moment was captured with the backdrop of only the rolling waves to bear witness to this new union. With a sandy aisle, playful childhood photos of the bride and groom, a simple bouquet of white roses, and radiant smiles for days, these two came together on what couldn't be a more perfect day in Virginia Beach.

Timeless Teal and Pink Richmond Wedding

Towering white columns, stunning brick architecture, and all the green that summer has to offer are just a few of the quintessential highlights our state has to offer the wedding world. Captured by Stephanie Yonce Photography, this teal and white accented wedding at The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond showcased each detail in a beautiful way. Hunter and Cord chose to exchange vows and celebrate them in a classic wedding theme, speaking to the timelessness of the venue and their story as a couple.

When Cord popped the question to Hunter on a surprise trip to Kiawah Island in South Carolina, she could only dream of what their wedding day would look like since she is an event planner herself! Since they live down in Charleston, they wanted to welcome their large families and friends with a locally-inspired welcome box that we absolutely loved! Filled with local treats like Ukrops Rainbow Cookies and Virginia peanuts, their guest gifts were made even more perfect with a custom wedding monogram!

A Pizza Love Story and Downtown Norfolk Engagement

It was the evening of Valentine's Day, and Kaitlin and Josh had just gotten home from their weekend road trip to visit Kaitlin's family in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Despite the holiday, they didn't feel like going out or cooking so they ordered the heart-shaped pizza special from Papa John's. Unbeknownst to Kaitlin, Josh placed his grandmother's ring inside the pizza box, so when she opened the box, she got much more than cheesy pizza crust!

Since these two lovebirds both work in the utility industry in Norfolk, they knew they wanted to incorporate a bit of their past and future in their present day engagement session with Catherine Crane Photography. From the Norfolk street manhole (as a nod to their careers) to coordinating their outfits of coral, gray, and champagne (a nod to their wedding colors), Kaitlin and Josh enjoyed their time together in downtown Norfolk during one of the most beautiful times of year.
