Classic Colonial Williamsburg Winter Wedding

Sometimes, all you need is a blizzard to find true love. It worked for Lauren and Jason, at least! When a blizzard hit Washington DC, Lauren found herself snowed in with her college roommate and her roommate's friends from high school – one of whom was Jason. They spent the weekend bonding over snowball fights, fortresses, and hot cocoa... and within a short month, Lauren and Jason made things official and the rest was history.

It was this snowy retreat that bonded them that inspired their wintry wedding in Williamsburg. In lieu of bridesmaids' bouquets, Lauren's leading ladies donned black fur muffs with silver brooches to keep warm. From Lauren's 18th-century style bouquet to her heirloom ivory fur cape, combining vintage aspects to reflect the history of the area brought a beautifully nostalgic feel to their special day. The bride illustrated the save-the-dates and invitation suite herself, which were decorated with tree branch illustrations complete with a wax seal over 18th-century style paper folding (where a letter is folded to form its own envelope).

Captured by Don Mears Photography and coordinated by Sterling Events, the reception then reflected the stationery's tree branch theme with a bare tree that stood in the center, dripping with gems and candles, for a wonderful juxtaposition between the chilly weather outside and the warm atmosphere inside the tent. And, of course, a colonial-style wedding wouldn't be complete without CW's own Fife and Drums as part of the entertainment and toy powdered wigs and tri-corner hats for all to wear for the evening!
