What To Do on a Vegas Honeymoon

Since I'm currently in Vegas for the wedding photography convention, WPPI, I figured it was only perfect to share a bit about what makes this little spot in Nevada a great honeymoon location for us East Coasters with our newest series, The Little Honeymoon Guide. It's not a comprehensive guide, but a collection of recommendations that aren't necessarily the "typical" Vegas from fellow wedding blog editors.

Now I'll be completely upfront and say the Vegas Strip is totally not my kind of town (hello, rolling hills of England!), but it is a really great place for couples who love the night life, amazing food, fun outdoor activities, and the glitz and glam that only Vegas has to offer.

PLACES TO EAT

* Mon Ami Gabi
Mindy of Budget Fairy Tale and Ami of Elizabeth Anne Designs both love the little French bistro Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris Hotel. They say it has a good atmosphere and that the food is great.

* Casa Don Juan
If you're looking for authentic Mexican food (none of that Tex-Mex stuff), take a taxi ride over to this little hidden gem off of South Main Street. Casa Don Juan boasts delicious meals of all things you love about south of the border. To boot, if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, they're very knowledgable, especially for Celiacs/gluten allergies!

* Gordon Ramsay's BURGR
For "cheap" eats, Dana of Broke Ass Bride say BURGR is the place to go. Since there is no such thing as cheap in Vegas, this gourmet burger joint is a bit more friendly to the wallet than other places around the Strip. And I quote her: "Damn, those burgers and jalapeno poppers be tasty!"

THINGS TO DO

* Hoover Dam
You can't not go to Vegas and not venture off of the Strip! "I'm a nerd and love going to the Hoover Dam," Lauren of Every Last Detail recommends. About 35 miles outside of Vegas, there are plenty of tours that visit the Dam daily. Fun Fact: It is considered to be one of the Top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20th Century. That's a pretty hefty title there!

* Hyde at Bellagio
Overlooking the iconic fountains, Hyde provides a bit of gorgeous nightlife to anyone visiting. Christen of Broke Ass Bride said it would even be perfect for a small reception venue for those elopers out there!

* Red Rock Canyon
It's overwhelmingly breathtaking to see the red rocks against a blue sky. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area boasts some of the area's most beautiful scenery. Perfect for that romantic selfie! You can either rent a car for the day or take a tour with a group out. Either way, you're in for a real Nevada treat.

PLACES TO STAY

* The Signature at MGM Grand
These lovely suites are not just affordable, but nice and modern. Most all of the Signature at MGM accommodations come with a kitchenette (which is a rarity at most Vegas hotels!) and mini-fridge so if you have food allergies or are on a tighter budget, you can stock up on some groceries for your breakfast or snacks.

* Wynn's Encore
"I personally love the Wynn's Encore Resort Rooms -- it's my regular spot at this point -- the rooms are spacious and elegant. The restaurants are all top notch. Plus it's right beside the Fashion Show Mall for shopping and cheap(er) meals," Kunbi of Aisle Perfect suggests.

* The Cosmopolitan
A confirmed Vegas local's favorite, The Cosmopolitan has a ton to offer. Not just in the heart of the Strip, it has the award-winning buffet Wicked Spoon, art galleries, Rent the Runway's Vegas store, and of course, fun casino games. It's contempo-chic!

FUN RESOURCES TO CHECK OUT
