How to do a Fall Nautical-Inspired Wedding

We have a special treat with a bonus inspiration board this month! When we think of nautical, we think of summer. But what about those couples who love all things nautical and all things fall? We asked the anchor-lovin' wedding planner expert herself, Jamie of Jamie Leigh Events, to share some ideas on how to incorporate those two loves! So without further ado… I'll let her take it from here!

Nautical. A theme that you tend to only think of with summer weddings. Well, think again! Fall is just around the corner and with that come pumpkins and bright fall colors. But you want a nautical theme. How do you pull off both?

The word nautical doesn't necessarily mean you have to go full blown nautical, but you can do touches in your details and colors. Navy blue is a good staple color that goes beyond many seasons, but to make it more fall-friendly, add some tans, bronze, copper, rose gold, golds, yellows, or reds, you name it! Because navy blue is one of those colors that's associated with nautical and a great neutral, it can go with almost any color scheme no matter if you want more elegant or more rustic depending on your taste.

TIPS FOR A PLANNING FALL NAUTICAL WEDDING

* Keep with the basics that automatically make one thing nautical with anchors and navy and white stripes, but use them on your bouquets with fall colored flowers, or on your tables with pumpkins.

* Not a fan of all that orange? Consider with the deep red and navy and use white pumpkins lining the aisle and in your centerpieces!

* Think textures. Smooth cotton textures tend to be very summery. Bring in burlap, muslin, and other cream-colored textured fabrics and pair them with the nautical detail of your choosing.

* Incorporate cooler weather accessories like pashminas for the ladies and fun striped or anchor-bearing groomsmen socks.

* Go natural. Berries, wheat stalks, Indian corn, and pumpkins are all natural and affordable options for bulk decorations and would go perfectly with a monkey knot decoration piece!
