The Website and Community

Launched in December 2013, Tidewater and Tulle is the online wedding and honeymoon publication for couples getting married in or around the southeastern coastal region of Virginia. Whether it is in the sands of Virginia Beach, on the cobblestone streets of historic Williamsburg, or in a rustic barn outside of Richmond, Tidewater and Tulle is the community for anyone with a Hampton Roads connection or a love for all things coastal.

The blog's signature colors of Pantone's Grayed Jade and Dusty Blue and its logo represent the land ("Tidewater") and the water ("Hampton Roads") that make up our beautiful region.

Using a 2 hours driving hours radius from the City of Hampton as a guideline, Tidewater and Tulle represents weddings, sessions, and wedding-related inspiration in Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News, Suffolk, Yorktown, Poquoson, and Williamsburg), Richmond, Emporia and surrounding areas, and the Eastern Shore in the beautiful coastal region of Virginia as well as the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

Tidewater and Tulle was founded by Virginia Beach native and Williamsburg bride, Chelsea LaVere. She grew up surrounded by the region's beaches, forests, and fields and fell in love with the natural diversity that only Hampton Roads has. (But let's not chat about the bridge-tunnels—we all know how we feel about those!)

As a now-retired local wedding photographer completely obsessed with the wedding industry and wielding a little ole bachelor's degree in English, Chelsea has always had a passion in helping brides and grooms find their perfect wedding teams and highlighting incredible local resources through the written word and social media.

When Chelsea isn't writing or scheduling content, she's either being a crazy cat mom of three, going off on local adventures with her husband, or traveling and looking for the best gluten-free food. Her local eatery favorite is Food for Thought in Williamsburg and her favorite staple since high school, Reginella's in Virginia Beach. You can get to know Chelsea and her wedding hats more on

Maria Grace is a Hampton Roads and destination wedding photographer with a love for travel and a heart for seeing marriages last. She is passionate about running, all things organic, and creating memories that last longer than a lifetime. Maria is also the leader of a local #TuesdaysTogether chapter of the Rising Tide Society. She and her husband, Nathan, are currently in the process of adopting a child. Not to be confused with PF Chang's, Maria's favorite restaurant is Peter Chang's in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg. Having had some abroad experience in China, she can vouch that it has truly authentic Chinese food - not for the faint of heart!

Jill Brown

Originally from the Harrisonburg, Virginia area, Jill Brown of Sunkissed Events is a Hokie Alum and relocated to the Hampton Roads area about 8 years ago. Her background is in design and spent many years in the fashion world before diving head first into the wedding industry when she planned her own gorgeous wedding.

During her business off-time, she is all about being a cat mom of two to Sunny and Chloe, designing their home (because she's a total TJMaxxinista), shopping, and riding bikes with her husband. Some of her favorite local hotspots are Razzo in Norfolk, Captain Groovy's in Norfolk, and HK on the Bay in Virginia Beach. There is no shortage of good food or places around here!

Rachel Cook

Having grown up in Virginia Beach, Rachel loves all things beach, preppy, and nautical. She is currently a junior at the College of William and Mary pursuing a degree in Accounting and Public Health. A Lilly Pulitzer fanatic, Rachel enjoys reading about new fashion trends and participating in social and volunteer opportunities within her sorority, Delta Gamma.

When Rachel isn't hitting the books at the library, she loves a good latte while catching up with friends, playing with her sweet mini Australian Shepard puppy, Sydney, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Although she could eat at Plaza Azteca for every meal of the day, some of her other favorite Hampton Roads restaurants include Leaping Lizard Café in Virginia Beach and Food for Thought in Williamsburg. Rachel has adored learning about the wedding world and what amazing resources and vendors are available for brides-to-be. She is sure to be a pro when her day comes!
